Most of the time, when you see aerial photography, it is taken with top-end modern equipment; after all, it is not cheap to rent a plane or helicopter, and usually, the photographer wants to get the most they can out of the experience. But that does not mean you can't shoot film from the air, and this fun video shows just what a joy it can be.
Coming to you from Sweet Lou Photography, this neat video follows him as he takes to the skies over New York for some aerial film photography using both a medium format camera and a Polaroid instant camera. We are used to seeing ultra-sharp aerial images nowadays, and I personally find it a refreshing perspective to see the city captured on film. It lends a degree of nostalgia to the images and invites the viewer to find their own memories within the photos from the mood it evokes. And the combination of limited exposures and the time pressure of a flight is certainly quite a challenge for any photographer, though it looks to be quite a lot of fun. Check out the video above to see what the experience was like and the pictures they got.
