The Canon EOS R8, the company's latest full frame mirrorless camera, is likely on the way soon, and while we have not learned much about the camera yet, a set of rumored specs have emerged. Take a look at what you can expect.
Digicame.info is reporting a new set of specifications for the rumored upcoming Canon EOS R8 mirrorless camera. They include:
- 24-megapixel full frame CMOS sensor
- DIGIC X processor
- Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with subject detection of various vehicles and animals
- Continuous burst rate of up to 40 frames per second
- 4K 60p with 6K oversampling for improved image quality
- No in-body image stabilization
- 3.5mm microphone jack
- Streaming via USB-C
- New form factor
- New vari-angle rear screen
- Weight: 461 g
The EOS R8 will probably be priced at $1,499 for the body only or $1,699 when paired with the RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3, which likely positions it as a replacement for the EOS RP. It is worth noting that the rumored weight of the EOS R8 is in line with that of the EOS RP, which, coupled with the presence of C-Log3, may be indicative that the camera might not come with a viewfinder. Hopefully, we will hear more soon!
Another boring 24 MP camera? There must be more ?
What did you expect for 1499?
The RP was a great camera after the last firmware update, for general medium paced shooting, it only lacked battery life and dynamic range from the sensor, this sounds like the important handicaps have been addressed.
That's Alex's Italian side coming out. :-)
at 1499, what happens to the R7? With only IBIS and 33MP advantage?
Different sensor size and more photo-centric.
Photocentric without ibis of course ;)
I hope the various photo communities don't start arguing about whether you need this or not. This is not new hugely expensive tech, it should be in everything that's $800 or more.
Then again I'm not a Canon bean counter so there's that. What a shame.
If I didn't have a stable of Canon lenses already I would have just invested in Sony, even with my reservations for them. At least I have choices.
Sounds like a Sony and Nikon killer in content creators category.
No ibis = no buy
Joke of a camera model. Just to have a bigger audience in that price range who will buy either hugely expensive L or dirt cheap low quality lenses.
Canon is basically the Apple of cameras. There is no solid budget/mid range options without some serious caveats. For crop the lenses are an absolute joke. For full frame, the low end is decidedly low end and the low end lenses are very limited in range and quality. (An 85 f2 with external focusing, yuck). For both platforms, its canon lenses or the highway. Definitely sounds like Apple.
We'll know what the r50 has in store soon and chances are it won't be pretty but we will see.No need to prejudge.
Edit - That hyper annoying video player crashed my page and I had to reload it. Argh.
You know....my R5 has made my EF based lenses work better than they did with my 5DIV, half of which are third party lenses. Your assertion that an R8 owner will be forced to buy expensive lenses is the proverbial straw dog. And every one of my third party lenses is stabilized and work seamlessly with the R5.
Oh good lord enough with the IBIS bs, just another marketing gimmick to get people to buy a new camera and you can tell those that fall for it 🙄
