How to Create Your Own Lightroom Presets

Lightroom presets sometimes have a bad reputation, but they are a tremendously useful tool and time-saver when used properly. One of the best ways to use them is to create your own, and this fantastic video tutorial will show you how to do just that.

Coming to you from Anita Sadowska, this awesome video tutorial will show you how to create your own Lightroom presets. Presets are often criticized, but there is nothing inherently wrong with them. Rather, the issue is that inexperienced photographers often buy them thinking that they are a shortcut past learning how to edit. Once you have put in that time and practice to understand how to use all of Lightroom's functions, however, presets can be tremendously useful, especially if you find yourself making the same general edits to images over and over. Not only will they make you more efficient and remove some of the tedium of post-processing, they will make your overall output more consistent as well. For example, I frequently shoot in the same concert hall with the same lighting, and I have a dedicated preset I apply to all photos upon importing them to Lightroom that saves me a fair amount of time and work. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Sadowska.
