Our last night at Goblin Valley we left the state park to explore some BLM camping and just happened to find this spot. I knew exactly what I wanted. I have been thinking of this photo for a long time and I am happy it came out so well on the first try.
The fire worked great for lighting the walls. I had taken a light tube to light individual parts but ended up using the natural fire light one as it looked just as good and I didn't need to add several other photos together. In fact besides the fire being blown out and myself blurry (long exp) it was almost perfect in one shot.
I ended up using couple exposures. One for the walls, one for the sky, one for the fire and for one myself which all blended together nicely.
